SuperStation Superstar: NWA World Champion Tommy Rich

$27.99 - $29.99

When Tommy Rich stunned Harley Race—and the wrestling world—with the Thesz Press to become the second-youngest NWA champion in history, it was a fleeting yet memorable moment for the ages.

In fact, because even Rich didn't know he was getting the 10 pounds of gold until he arrived at the Bell Auditorium, no photographers were on hand—just one WTBS camera. My theory: promoter Jim Barnett convinced Harley to drop the title to Rich because he knew Dusty Rhodes was getting the belt two months later—at Atlanta's Omni no less—for an extended run, before dropping it to Ric Flair or Ted DiBiase.

The next day. Rich cut his only promo with the belt, alongside Freddie Miller, which would sadly air two days after ol' Wildfire's title reign was extinguished by Race in Gainesville. There aren't many pics of Rich with the belt in circulation, as I believe he only had one photo shoot with Emmy Yates in Columbus, Ga., prior to one of his few title defenses as the NWA World champion.

In fact, the image featured on this 100% cotton American Apparel tee was originally published in black-and-white in a wrestling mag. I colorized it, fine-tuned it, added some classic logos of the era to produce a red-hot tee that surely leave every Rich fan fired up!

Tale of the Tape
The American Apparel 2001 is the classic T-shirt. with its fine jersey cotton construction making it extremely soft and comfortable to wear, so it's a good choice for a day-to-day tee. Plus it's durable as Harley Race himself, so it might just be the greatest tee on God's Green Earth!
